    Edward Norval Doddridge (Dec. 8, 1833 - May 11, 1888)
    Ann Sinclair (Mar. 5, 1845 - Aug. 7, 1887 )
Ann was the daughter of John and Susan (Tozer) Sinclair and she was born in Cullen's Brook. The family later moved to Cascapedia. After the early deaths of both Ann & Norval, the youngest children went to live with their sister Susan who had 14 children of her own. Dick turned his share of the family property over to Susan before he went to Minnesota. Campbell and Louisa were sent to live with Aunt Betsy (Mrs. John Campbell) but Louisa was very unhappy so they took her home to live with Susan and her family. Many of the older ones left the area at an early age to find work in Minnesota, and most of them never returned to New Richmond. Their descendants are still in Minnesota and some have also settled on the West Coast of the States. Norval was a carpenter and also a farmer and their property was on the Third Range of New Richmond. There is no longer any trace of the old homestead or any of the other buildings. Norval suffered a fall about 7 years prior to his death and had to use crutches for the remainder of his life. There was a long workbench in an unused room in the house where he used to work on carpentry projects. Dick also was a good carpenter and made paneled doors and installed a dormer window in the house before he went to Minnesota.

Children: Susan, Jennie, Dick, Hope, Doddridge, Alvin, Oliver, May, Lorne, Louisa

149 Good-by my Aunt Francie. You are my first aunt to die. I am sorry you suffered from the agony of cancer. Your battle is now over. Peace be with you. I am deeply sorry for my Uncle Ian and my cousins, Heather and Doug. Your love for Aunt Francie was so strong and I know you will miss her deeply.

My Aunt Francie is the sister that my Mom and cousin Bob fed mud pies iced with white leaded paint. The creative meal caused Francie and Rolly (Bob's brother) to have their stomachs pumped.

I remember Francie and Ian coming to the hospital to greet my son, the first grandchild on our side of the family. They were both so truly happy for us and made Paul, Michael and I feel so special.

Francie was a talented piano player. In my childhood, we would drive to Edmonton for Christmas. All my Aunts would gather around my grandparents' piano. Francie was accompanied by three violins and a clarinet. The rest of us would sing. These memories of Christmas singing are some of my most favourite recollections.

Last Christmas, Francie hosted a family sing along. Like my parents did many years ago, we drove our children to Edmonton. I was so grateful to have the opportunity to share and show my children the talent and warmth of my mother's family at Christmas time. Thank you again Francie. We will miss you.
